Whistlejacket

Whistlejacket by George Stubbs, in the National Gallery, London 2009

Took Erbie to see George Stubbs, Whistlejacket in the The National Gallery yesterday and he said ‘neigh neigh’, impressive you may think for a 14 month old, but not if I let slip that’s more or less all he’s been saying since before he was one!

Ha ha, that story tickled me nicely this morning. And the picture is lovely.

So sweet. I really love Whistlejacket - there was a wonderful Stubbs exhibition on at the National Gallery some years ago - not long after they acquired Whistlejacket, and it was fascinating to discover more about how he worked.
You've reminded me that I should really take Trefusis Minor and his sister to see it - I'm sure they'd like it as much as Erbie

How great to have the N.G on your doorstep. My son loves it there.

Got to admire the kids sense of timing though.

@Marie
Glad to have tickled you.

I should really take Erbie more often too, The GR and I were going to 'do' a picture a week, (learn and tell one another about) we managed it once!

@LookingFabInYour40s
You just made me laugh out loud, sorry to disappoint!

@everybodysaysdont
I've been meaning to ask: everybody says don’t what?

@goonerjamie
Been driving with any baboons lately?

Everybody Says Don't - is the name of a song by Steven Sondheim. I like the song, and when I mentioned starting a blog most people (well 2 friends) said "Don't!" so the blog name was born!! x

My daughter knew all the sounds animals made long before she could talk. I'd say "cow", she'd say "moo." Etcetera. It didn't occur to me to take her to see Whistlejacket though.
